| Become part of the 100 Person Challenge and make a difference in the life of a child! |
|
| This volunteer effort is a hair and fundraiser to benefit Locks of Love, a non-profit organization that provides natural hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children with medical hair loss. The goal of this challenge is to raise at least 100 hair donations of 10 inches or more, and/or monetary donations of $10 or more. Locks of Love is a charity that provides custom fitted prosthetic hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under the age of 18 suffering from alopecia areata (al-oh-PEE-shah air-ee-AH-tah), for which there is no known cause or cure. Other children have gone through radiation treatment to the brain stem, suffered severe burns or experienced dermatological conditions resulting in long-term medical hair loss. Each custom hairpiece is made entirely from donated human hair. A vacuum seal holds the piece firmly to the head so there is no fear of it falling or being pulled off. Children can continue to live a normal life running, jumping and swimming as their new appearance helps restore lost self-esteem and confidence. |
