This Special Place This place has known our presence, On this land our footsteps tread, Our blood and tears have mingled, In this earth that holds our dead. Our fathers and their fathers, Their sons and daughters too, Our mothers and their mothers, Gave their all for me and you. We're greatful for their sacrifice, We sing their praises clear, This place has been a state of mind, For half a thousand years. A state of mind to one and all, No matter where we roam, This land, this earth, this special spot. This place that we call home. And new blood too shall mingle, In this place you can be sure, And may all live and prosper here, For half a thousand more. Written for Newfoundlands 500th birthday June 24, 1997 |

| The moment you lose your faith in people, I recomend you save up your pennies and take a trip to Newfoundland. Meet the Newfoundlanders and your faith will be restored. You will meet total strangers and they will be come friends. You will walk in as an unknown soul and come out with buddies who'll stand up for you in any fight. You will hear them laugh at themselves, sing songs, and tell tales. They will take lifes curves with grace, and know that being alive is a whole lot better then being dead. They will treat you for who you are and not put on phony ears. If you need a hand, you get an army. They will take you in, buy you around, make you a part of the family and by the time you leave the rock, you'll fall in love with the place. You see ,Newfoundlanders are Newfoundlanders where ever they go. After all as John Crosbie once said " You can always tell the Newfoundlanders in heaven, there the ones that want to go home".! If Your Faith is Sagging, Hug A Newfoundlander. |
