| The War Within | ||||
| VERSE 1 He wakes up in the morning, steps out of bed Walks to the kitchen, picks up the bread Off goes the toaster, he takes a dive into the floor And his mind quickly fills with the images of war Gunfire and explosions now ring through his home But it's all in his head, he's in a mental battle zone. CHORUS The bullets flew so long ago His scars will always show The battle has been fought and now it's gone But in his head the war rages on. VERSE 2 He crawls towards the bedroom, reaches underneath the bed He's off to seek revenge on the demons in his head. He lines up the barrel, he's got the charlie in his sights A quick tug on the trigger, and he sets wrong to right. CHORUS VERSE 3 When the smoke clears away, he sees a body drenched in blood His mind quickly clears when he sees what he's done There lie the woman who he vowed to long ago 'Till death do us part, if only he had known Through the grief and the guilt and the mourning for his wife He picks up the gun, and takes his own life. |
