Dark Arts: The Interview

Willow arrived swiftly to her destination, which turned out to be a large fireplace in an alley. The lane was lined on both sides with what appeared to be the most fantastic shops. She quickly moved out of the way as more people shot out of the chimney. She found herself looking at the door to an inn. "The Leaky Cauldron" was clearly labeled above the doorway. She made her way in.

A very tall man with a very long white beard was waiting inside. "Ah Miss. Rosenberg" He greeted, "I am Professor Dumbledore". Willow shook his hand while privately trying to guess his age. His eyes twinkled, "Oh far older than you could ever imagine" He assured her with a grin. "Now lets get settled while we talk". He led her over to a large couch with a low wooden table in front of it. "Two butterbeers please", He called over to the barman.

"Now" He began as the butterbeers were brought over, "You have already got the job should you want it. This is a mere formality. The only other possible candidate is busy on a another task. Before you agree to the job though, you need to know a few things". He paused and looked at her.

She had been sipping the beer unsure of where this was going. "Ok, tell me why you want me, I mean I don't have your kind of magic".

He beamed at her, "That is precisely why we want you. We have a situation here in the magic world. One of the most evil wizard to ever live has found a way to remain alive despite several spells back lashing on him. He was thought dead not 14 years ago when he tried to kill one of our now students. The spell rebounded and reduced him to almost nothing. However now he is back in a more sinister form. He is after revenge on young Harry for being the one who stopped him all those years ago. I want you to train the students to use magic without wands. He doesn't know how to do that, and if the children do they stand a much better chance of surviving." He stopped, apparently having run out of things to say.

Willow looked at him, "The children have an innate magic?"

"Yes" he replied, they just focus it through the wand. We can teach nothing else. You could teach them to become the wand."

Willow nodded. "Ok. I agree, I have fought a lot of evil in my lifetime and if this man attacked a baby, he is truly evil. I cannot help but try to stop him", she paused, "What are the terms?".

Dumbledore pushed an envelope across to her, "Here is your contract. You will find a vault labeled 839 which will contain your salary. It should be sufficient to last you the year. If you remain with us, a similar sum will be there for you for the following year. I have also included a history of the past 20 years in our society so you can bring yourself up to speed".

Willow looked up at him gratefully before asking "how do I get there."

Dumbledore chuckled, "There is a room upstairs for you. A man called Arthur Weasley will be here within the next day or so with his son and young Harry Potter. He'll take you to the station. Feel free to pick up anything you need for class and bill it to the school. I have sent your description to the shops so they should have no problem helping you".

"Thank you Professor, I'll see you at Hogwarts".
