Aye now, where do we begin.

There was a lot of build up and drunken promises made in several bars round the world before the united foot soldiers of Scandinavia finally got our act together and created Lochlann Albannaich (Scandinavian – Scottish).

The club has been set up to represent four of the five Scandinavian countries, those being Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland (any TA boys out there in Iceland, we’d love to hear from you). The original concept came from the drunken ramblings of Simmy, and Sgt. Sponge from Norway, Tam "the Tram" McTurk and Gus from Denmark. It seem ridiculous that we would meet up on planes only to find we’d all booked into different hotels and therefore lost touch once we arrived at our destination. To make things even more confusing we’d bumped other Scandinavian dwellers such as Davie MacDonald, at that time in Sweden, Perry also in Sweden but on route to London and Stevie Croakatt living in Helsinki – Finland, so now there seven of us making drunken promises.

Munich Airport, September 1999, Tam goes "No yous again" to Simmy, Sponge and now Sandy also staying in Norway, (If you’ve met Sandy you’d remember him). A bar was found, once we’d managed to find space at one not already occupied by some of the 500 making the trip to Sarajevo for the European qualifier, and plans were drawn up. The foundations for the club were laid.

We now number about 15 hard core travelling members, and have good representation at most of the games. The away game in Belgium, sorry to bring it up, saw our numbers at around 25. We’ve had members move on to other locations, Satch to Dubai, Davie is now a Nomad, Perry to London and Glasgow and John to Amsterdam but they all still consider themselves Lochlann Albannaich members. So if your living in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and especially Iceland feel free to get in touch with one of the guys on the contact page. You'd be more than welcome to join us on a trip and enjoy the Tartan Army experience….

One final note a special thanks to Mirza in Sarajevo for helping us resurrect our web site.

Cheers,

Sgt. Sponge.
