Erin is Lizzybeth's roommate. Erin is a bipolar bitch. Literally. There have been some minor incidents in the past with her, yelling at Lizzy to shut up, unplugging the microwave because "no one uses it" (Lizzy uses it EVERY day to make soup or pasta or rice) and even telling Lizzy not to cook food in the room and making her call me, half a building away, so she can use my microwave. But nothing will compare to the blow-out she had today. Last night, Erin and 2 of her friends lost their DD before they went out, so they needed a ride to the bars at 11 pm. Who do they come ask to stop writing her essay and drive with Lizzy there? Caragh, of course...but I don't mind, I want people to be safe and have lots of fun, so I agreed to go. (Granted, I had to chug a tall glass of "orange juice" before I left the room and that might have affected a few later comments, but it really wasn't that much.) Well, Erin had originally offered Lizzy $5 to drive them, but we decided I should negotiate for something better, one Erin-free night in their room while Mama is visiting. Now, Erin has a friend with no roommate, it's not going to be a major hardship for her to crash on that extra bed once, right? Obviously she didn't think so either, because she agreed right away. And this is while she was sober, so it was truthful! So Lizzy and I drop the girls at Bungalow's, wish them a fun night, and even tell them to call us later if they don't have a safe ride home...we'd negotiate for a second Erin-free night.. Wasn't that nice? Well we thought so anyway, but as it came out today, I was a bitch and insulted Erin and her friends and should not have been the one negotiating on Lizzy's behalf and about 7 million other problems which Erin was screaming at Lizzy right before Anna got to the room to visit. Enter Anna and it's like a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde complex...Erin becomes sweet and soft spoken and doesn't have a clue what Lizzybeth is talking about, Erin would never say one of us bitchy! But, she does think that it might be best if they switch rooms, because Erin just can't handle the stress. Well Lizzybeth, being the kind-hearted girl she is, goes off later in the afternoon to speak to their RA about these issues and get a room change request form, which she places on Erin's bed. Wasn't that helpful, to speed up the process? Obviously Erin didn't think so...I met her and those 2 friends in the stairwell later with Lizzy and she let us know that Elizabeth can move out whenever she feels like it...umm, come again please? That wasn't part of the bargain, Lizzy can deal with bipolar, you just can't deal with anyone who has a life. Well tonight I'm in my dorm about 8 pm and I get a phone call from pissed off Lizzy, asking me to come over very fast. When I get to her hall, she is waiting by the door, Erin and her friend are in there eating dinner...they said that Lizzy needed a mediator so that they could talk about these problems. Already they are pissed off she called me, because in Erin's eyes I'm the cause of all the problems really. So the battle begins with Erin saying how rude I was to them last night...honestly, I can't believe I made sure they had a safe ride out to get drunk...I really am a horrible person! But she doesn't stop, and I'm not a passive person by nature, so I sure as hell wasn't gonna let this one get away with insulting me, I fight back. Sometime during this, Erin's little friend disappears, and when she comes back, she has an RA from a different hall because we need "real mediation"...and Erin starts to tell this poor girl about how Lizzy will never talk about problems (she is currently doubled over on her bed laughing because Erin is so mad about we don't even know what exactly, and really there's nothing else to be doing!) and how anytime Erin tries to talk to her, Lizzy brings in a friend. THEY MADE HER CALL ME! Well, first this RA kicks out me and the friend so they can all talk, and as we're walking down the hall, I have to know what she was thinking so I ask if it was necessary to bring in someone else. Her response? "Umm...let me see, yes I think that's what they pay RAs to do...oh yea, I'm right." What a nut case, there isn't a real problem beyond Erin is psycho! So we continue to leave the hall, her about 10 feet ahead of me, when she wheels around and starts bitching at me for following her! I'm just walking back to my room! And even though I know she's a dumbass, I try to explain that to her, but that doesn't stop her yelling at me for it. Screw her, I flick her off while she's getting into the elevator and go back to my room...all I could think of was "I can't wait to write this story." (Yea yea I'm a computer nerd, but you're still reading, so obviously you're entertained!) Forty-five minutes later I meet Lizzybeth in the lobby...they had just finished the meeting with the RA...Verdict? Well originally it was to set aside one hour a week and talk out problems and bond with one another. But after this poor RA had to listen to Erin bitch over and over about all the same things, I think she really started to sympathize with Lizzy, because she changed that to only 15 minutes in the same breath! I'm so glad my roommate and I just don't talk to one another...it saves me from even more drama I don't need. I am far enough behind enough in writing my stories as it is! |
