Gender and Roles
Men vs. women, strength vs. weakness, work vs. baby sitting, cleaning and cooking, were the thoughts of men in times before today, not anymore. Women are taking places in society that before they were seen as men duties. Enrolling in the armed forces, taking jobs as office executives, leaving the house during the day, go dancing and drinking by themselves, are just a few examples of how women are getting the place they deserve in the world. With better education, better jobs, and more self-esteem, women are getting the place of head of house. Sometimes even getting better wages than their husbands. This shows that the macho attitude is also disappearing from home. Before, women were told to stay at home taking care of the kids, clean the house, and have a warm dinner for the time their husband comes back home. Today, I have friends that have to alternate days to take care of the kids because mommy is working; one day daddy another one mommy.
In present times, we have women working for the government and in public positions, jobs that were believed to be for men only. We have women protecting the country, fighting a war, which was also believed to be a duty for men only because women were the weak gender. Women have succeeded in every aspect, even in sports, soccer was a men only game, now I like women soccer better because if they get hit while playing, they don't cry on the ground begging the referee to mark a penalty as most men players do. Women are giving more and more reasons for men to love them because they get better every day.
