What's New

(1/8/07) Mommy went back to school today after only 4 short weeks off so she can finish clinical with her classmates on 2/23/07.

(1/3/07) Kate is really excited to have her aunt Kristi baby-sit next week when mommy goes back to work.

(1/3/07) Kate went to her first movie with Mom and Dad today!  We saw "Pursuit of Happyness"  We loved the movie. Evidently Kate didn't like the movie and was bored because she slept through most of it.  (Last week Grandma Sue watched Kate while mom and dad went to a movie.  It was the first time we have left Kate.  We told Grandma to call our cell phones if she needed anything.  We were late and accidentally left BOTH of our cell phones at home!  If she would have called, both our phones would have rang on the coffee table beside her.  Oops!  We felt terrible.  Good thing we were only gone 2 1/2 hours or so.)

(1/2/07) Kate was still having reflux.  Kate was given a prescription for Zantac - which has been working great so far!  After lots of insurance issues getting her added and dad spending 2 1/2 hours in Wal-Mart we got the script filled.

(1/1/06) Happy New Year!!  Kate met 3 sets of mommy and daddy's friends throughout the day.  We were home by 9:30 - 10 p.m.  Kate cried from then until 12:15 a.m.  She has been having stomach problems lately.

(12/30/06) We took down our Christmas decorations and ended Kate's first Christmas Season.  We were truly blessed to have such a great Christmas.  Kate is the best Christmas present we have ever received.

(12/27/06) Kate had her first doctor's appointment at 8:30 a.m.  Daddy was gone flying (went to Mena, Arkansas), so Kate went with Grandma Sue and Mommy.  Kate is a very healthy baby and almost gained 1 pound in 2 weeks!  She weighs 7 lbs 9 oz!

(12/26/06) Grandma Sue spent the night at our house.  Mommy and Daddy left Kate for the first time.  Grandma Sue babysat and was told to call our cell phones if there were any problems.  We got half way to the theater and realized we left our cell phones on the coffee table in the living room.  Oops!

(12/25/06) Christmas Day was spent with many relatives at Grandma Sue's.  Kate got to meet a lot of her relatives on the Selland side.

(12/24/06) We went to Shauna's aunt and uncle's home for Christmas Eve supper and church service in Nunda, SD.  We stayed at Grandma Sue's in Madison, SD Christmas Eve.  This was Kate's first night staying away from home with mom and dad.

(12/23/06) Kate had Christmas at our house with Grandma and Grandpa Brekke, Great grandpa Walt, Uncle Jeremy and Aunt Angie, Uncle Jeff, Aunt Heather, and Cousin Lydia.  What a full house!!  We also went to Kate's first church service Saturday evening - she did great and hung on Pastor Keith's every word.

(12/17/06) Kate had her first Christmas with Grandpa and Grandma Gansen and Uncle Chris.

(12/21/06) Kate is doing fine - the jaundice is almost all gone.  She eats a lot and doesn't look like a little pumpkin anymore.

(12/16/06) Kate had jaundice and needed to be taken in to Acute Care Saturday December 16.  Her Billi level was 10.3.  (5 is normal - 10.5 is the low side of high levels.)  We were able to take her home and didn't need a billi-light or blanket.

(12/14/06) Kate and Mommy are doing well enough to go home a day early.  Kate weighs 6 lbs 10 oz.

(12/12/06) Yup, Kate was delivered by C-section and Dad even cut the Cord without passing out!  Kate weighs 6 lbs 14 oz.

(12/10/06) An ultrasound is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. on Monday December 11.  This will determine for sure if Kate will come naturally, or by C-section December 12.
