Relief Effort Update Okaloosa County Schools: Okaloosa Schools will not be open
on Monday for students. Only four of the county’s schools currently have power.
The number one issue facing the schools is the availability of electrical
power. Several of the schools have significant roof damage. Many of the schools
have debris or fallen trees. School district emergency crews have been working
before, during and after the storm to provide emergency repairs to roofs and
other damages. School principals and district administrators will be on duty on
Monday. Superintendent Don Gaetz and his staff have
been and will continue to be on duty. A decision on reopening school will be
made depending on the availability of electrical power. FWB Water: The City of Fort Walton Beach has clean drinking water. Waste
Management: All Waste Management operations and maintenance employees need to
report to work at 7:00 a.m. Saturday. Post Office: Employees of Fort Walton Beach, Niceville, Crestview
and Valparaiso post offices need to report to work on Saturday
morning at 8:00 a.m.
