About The Club and Field Day.

The Twin Cities Amateur Club (TCARC) and it's members, are working to advance Amateur Radio in the Niceville- Valparaiso Area. Dues are $12 a year and you need not have a Amateur Radio License to join.    The club holds monthly meetings where club activities are planned and guest speakers present interesting subjects related to Amateur Radio. Both members and guest are welcome to attend.

In June the club participates in Field Day activities with other clubs in the local area. Field Day is a 24 hour emergency exercise and contest that is sponsored by the ARRL. Points are issued for each contact and the whole activity is lots of fun as we all pull together to make it happen.

Think about becoming a Ham? There are activities like Amateur Television (ATV), Packet Radio, Dx'ing on the low bands and even Satellite Communications. Come on by and check us out. Ham radio is a great hobby with something for everyone.

So you want to be a Ham Operator

You can now get a Ham radio License without learning the Morse Code. First you need to study the FCC rules and theory that apply to the Technician class licenses. Next you need to take a multiple choice test for the Technician Class Licence. This will earn you a No-Code Technician License which will give you full operating privileges on the VHF and UHF Amateur Bands.
This is a great first ticket.

License tests are held by Playground Amateur Radio Club (PARC)
on the 2nd Saturday of each odd month. At 8:00 A.M., in the PARC Club house Located on First and Church Street in Fort Walton Beach.

Call Louis Carter at 897-4657  for more information.

This is an exciting hobby, so start studying now so you won't be left out of all the fun.
