Predicted Conference Finish.
1. Utah- Despite a rough start, the Utes finished tied for 1st place in the conference. With the return of Coach Majerus and nearly everyone from that team returning, expect the title to pass through Salt Lake City once more.
3. Wyoming- Losing only one player, and a non-starter at that, look for the Cowboys to be a serious challenger for the title. They return a solid front-line to challenge the Utes. The only question is can they hit the 3 down the stretch?
2. New Mexico- Despite a 5th place in finish in last years conference race, expect the Lobos to dominate at home and steal a couple of wins on the road. A backcourt hailed as the best in the west gets stronger leaving the only question as can the young front-line do the job needed to take the crown?
4. San Diego State- Coach Fisher has proven to be a tremendous recruiter. Expect the Aztecs to be a major factor in next years conference wars. Some talented transfers begin their eligibility and could help the Aztecs turn some heads.
5. UNLV- The departure of several seniors, including Kambala leaves the Rebels a bit depleted. Throw in a new coach with a different style of play and you have the recipe for a bottom half finish. Expect UNLV to finish below last seasons 4th place.
6. Brigham Young- Last season the Cougars relied heavily on their seniors and rode that talent to the NCAA tournament. With the top 3 scorers departed expect the Cougars to have a serious fall off.
7. Colorado State- A team whose only failure was to win the close ones. The Rams lose some key talent and look to be fielding a young team next year. Expect them to beat out Air Force, but that's it.
8. Air Force- The perenial cellar dwellars, expect the Falcons to score a few upsets, but to remain in the league basement all season.
