Going Up There

We set off on a Greyhound bus Friday evening at 6:35. We had a devo before we left at the station.

We traveled from Lubbock [TX], to Amarillo (where Kevin lost his tickets and we had to buy him a whole new set!), to Oklahoma City [OK], and to Tulsa.

Then we had a long layover in Springfield [MO], where we had a Bible study with a new friend, Mark Goler. Mark is a rapper/poet who grew up in Los Angeles and lived in the “darkness” there, but he was changed after he met Jesus and started living in the light. I think he encouraged us as much as we encouraged him by this fellowship. We also shared some of our travel snacks with him. He’s the guy on the far right in the top picture. Throughout the bus trip, he lovingly referred to us as his “fellow believers”.

Once we got back on the bus, at 3:00 Saturday afternoon, we traveled to St Louis (where David & Shanna lost their luggage!), to Indianapolis [IND], Columbus [OH], and arrived in Cleveland at 7:00 Sunday morning. Over those past 2 long nights of riding on the bus, we managed to find some creative ways to sleep, as Shasta and Shanna are demonstrating in the middle picture.

Since it was Sunday morning in Cleveland, we had our own church service in the bus station. Shasta, David, Amber, Shanna, Kevin, and Robyn gather around the “Communion Table” (the grape juice bottle and the saltine crackers). We don’t always look like this, we just haven’t showered in 2 days. Yuck!

We left Cleveland at 8:45 that morning, and went through Buffalo [NY], Rochester, and Syracuse, before finally arriving in Albany near 8:00 Sunday evening.
