87th FIS Reunions
I'm Maj Dave Brown, the Squadron Exec and ADO for the 87th Flying Training  Squadron, Laughlin AFB, TX, flying the T-38.  We've spent the last two years dusting off our heritage to our predecessors, and now we'd like to take things a few steps further.

There are numerous things we've done such as resurrecting the original flying mosquito patch from WWII as our "Friday" patch, established a squadron bar (the "Slaughterhouse") complete with aviation pictures signed by Boots Blesse, Robin Olds, and others.  We're in the middle of putting together Phillipino wood models of all of the aircraft flown by the 87th over it's long history.  Our Squadron Commander tried like heck to get permission to paint his flagship with the distinctive red stripes and tail
flash of your era.  Didn't quite get approved, but we haven't given up yet.  So, on to why I'm writing you.

As our Sq/CC departed last week for a new assignment, he challenged us for this year's Dining-In ceremony in the fall:  Find all of the Red Bulls and get them together here for one hellacious Dining-In!  Instructor pilots from here as well as anyone that was a Red Bull at anytime in the unit's history.  I see from your web page y'all had a reunion last year.  I hope it went well.

I'd like to create a file of folks that went before us and try to get in touch with them about a Dining-In this fall, probably November 2003 time frame.  Is there anything you can do to help put us in contact with folks?

(Ed. Note:  Okay, folks!  The challenge is out!!!  Y'all remember what a Dining-In is, right??  Grog Bowl and all!!!  Not only is Major Brown looking for us K.I. era types but he's also interested in the Lockbourne and World War II era folks so if you would like to attend/help or know someone who can, please put them in touch with the good Major.  As we receive further updates, we'll put them here.)
