| You all know about InuYasha, right? Otherwise, you wouldn't be here! And besides, who HASN'T heard of that great masterpiece by the goddess Rumiko Takahashi? And I don't mean Ranma 1/2. Or Maisson Ikkoku. Or Urusei Yatsuura. Okay, she has a lot of masterpieces. All the same, InuYasha is no different. The title of this series comes from the main character itself, InuYasha. "Inu" stands for "dog" and "Yasha" is a word for "demon". InuYasha is a hanyou (half demon) with a mortal mother. He is set out on a quest with Kagome, a girl from present day who can travel back in time by use of a well at the shrine she lives in. Kagome is the reincarnation of Kikyou, the priestess who put InuYasha in a sort of coma-like sleep for 50 years before Kagome stumbled upon him the first time she visited the Sengoku Jidai (feudal era) and released him. Kikyou, in the past, had been sworn to purify this Shikon no Tama (Jewel of Four Souls) and she had died. Kagome was carrying the Shikon no Tama within her body without knowing it when she traveled back in time. The jewel shattered and now InuYasha, Kagome, and several other friends have to travel across ancient Japan to collect all the Shikon shards! Sounds complicated, doesn't it? And I haven't even told you the good stuff! But I won't. Because that wouldn't be fair to you guys, would it? You probably know all this already anyways.
