William Frederick Littlejohn was born to William and Melissa Caroline Littlejohn on February 26, 1878 at Buchtel, Ohio. His parents, William and Melissa, were married September 4, 1860 in Jackson County, Ohio, at Keystone Station, by the Reverend D. Higgins and witnessed by Marietta Higgins and Margaretta Perry. Melissa's mother was born in 1810 and her maiden name was Welds. She spent her childhood in Charleston, WV. Melissa's father was born in South Carolina in 1804 and his name was Thomas Dickerson.

William Littlejohn, Fred's father, was considered a man of great physical strength, being about 6' 8" tall and weighing about 280 pounds. He was a blacksmith by trade and served with the Union Army during the great Civil War.

Melissa Dickerson Littlejohn, was a tall and stately woman, about 5' 10" tall. It is told that she could stand under William's arm due to his height.

Thomas Edward Littlejohn, born July 21, 1861, married Sara Jane Brooks on December 21, 1879 and they had four children. Margaret Alice, born November 18, 1881, died May 14, 1965; Nellie, born November 9, 1885; Charles Melvin born May 21, 1890, died July 17, 1977; and David who died as an infant (dates unknown). Thomas Edward Littlejohn died March 27, 1941 and Sara Jane Brooks Littlejohn died July 19, 1933.

Lewis Ripley Littlejohn was born March 23, 1868 and died May 26, 1951. He never married and lived at home with his mother and sister, Stella.

Granville Roscoe (Ross) was born March 23, 1869 and died December 5, 1918. He also never married and lived at home with his mother and sister.

Stella Marvarette was born May 19, 1871 and died November 13, 1947. She never married and lived at home with her mother and brothers.

America Ellen (Amy) was born March 17, 1873 and died December 26, 1971. She married John Esterling (who died in 1916) and they had three children, Ruth, Nancy and Hobart. Amy lived her entire adult life in Logan, Ohio.

William Frederick was born February 26, 1878 and died April 12, 1921. He married Julia Alice Tamplin on November 12, 1900.
