A few Suggestions
Two quick, easy, dry, exotic,
tasty, inexpensive, Pastries:
Dough, made with plain flour, with a rolling pin flattened very thin, cut into about 4 inch squares, after filled as below, folded into a triangle and edges pressed…
1. With approximately a tea-spoonful of chopped or pureed spinach (as sold in cans or tins in supermarkets) salted to taste as filling, with or without a couple of raisins too (try some with, and some without) a few at a time given a turn in hot frying oil in a pan or wok, drained -when they go cold they taste better (if at home, the ones without raisins may also be dipped in plain yoghurt).
2. You can do the same, using minced meat and finely chopped onions -browned in shallow oil ~use as filling with fresh chopped parsley -flat leaf is aromatic -hot or cold (at home, with sliced fresh tomatoes).
And.. Exotic Fritters...
Grate a few potatoes, an onion, add minced meat, salt and black-pepper to taste -chopped parsley (fresh is aromatic), an egg ~if much, two -mix (if juicy crumble in a slice of bread or two); spoon by spoon lay in shallow hot oil fry -flatten, turn it, fry -drain ~hot or cold (at home, with yoghurt or fresh tomatoes).
And.. an exotic, inexpensive Drink
Spoonful of yoghurt, salt to taste, few dried mint leaves -cold water ~in the child's flask to shake, pour, enjoy.
Plus an exotic & Healthy Soup at Home
Bulgar (cracked wheat -any supermarket) and a small pot of yoghurt, salted to taste, bring to boil in plenty of water, simmer ~nice hot or cold -if it thickens add hot water.
..and two exotic healthy meals
1. Bulgar, 1 & 3/4 cups of water for each cup of bulgar, salt -bring to boil and simmer as you do rice.
2. Green lentils, rice, sliced onions, salt -boil as above.
Very healthy with yoghurt, in a pot or plastic box with a lid, and a spoon, for a child's as school lunch .
At home serve either of them with yoghurt - or the first on (1) with spinach and yoghurt ~they look very nice with a few spring onions on the plate.. and yummy.
