So whatever happened to the ancient Black Knight? The Black Knight was found in the forest when he was an infant by elven travelers. There was no record of his name or how he ended up in the forest. The elves decided to keep him and raised him up as one of their own. This was during the time of peace, but not many of the elven folks trusted him because he kept to himself. However, they taught him how to use the sword and how to shoot an arrow. He was also taught history and how to read. Even though the history was mainly elven, he picked up how the land worked and how the magic flowed and convert the land.
At first, the elven people treated him with tolerance because of the people who raised him. They became more distrustful of the humans however since they were treating them like a disease. They did one final thing for peace however. They sent the man that they raised as their own over to Phillus to try and restore peaceful relationship.
When that man arrived at the city Phillus and his order were in, he noticed that there were anti-fairy demonstrations and crowds of people walking along the streets checking everyone to make sure they were not of elven descent. He did not know what to make of it at the time, but he headed straight for the nearest person and asked where was Phillus. The man he addressed pointed to the center building of the square and he thanked him before moving on.
He entered the building and noticed that it was a massive library filled with people in cloaks trying to read and ignore anyone else in the room. He asked around and discovered that Phillus was at the quiet room in the back studying. He walked up to Phillus and introduced himself. Phillus glanced at him and a look of surprise crossed his face. He introduced himself and seemed to recognized the man. After a hefty conversation, he sadly told the man that there was no hope for peace and that it was the fairy creatures that wanted war. The man nodded and drew his sword. Phillus did not look surprise and threw up a forcefield propelling the man against the wall. The man stumbled to his feet and shot two arrows which bounced off the forcefield. Phillus smiled and offered the man a chance to become great.
Not much is known about what the offer was or why the man was intrigued by it, but the man accepted it and swore to protect Phillus in exchange of becoming great and well-known. He became Phillus's loyal bodyguard and also his assassin when it was required. He gave a suit of black magically enhanced armor to the man. People soon talked about a mysterious man in black armor who was physically unmatched is weapon mastery and hand to hand combat. He slaughtered leaders of the fairy creatures and became known as the dragonslayer because of his bloody carnage of the dragons of that era.
Soon after, the war against the fairy creatures started up. The war was pretty simple at first to the man and he led the calvary attacking war parties along the trail. He heard that the main forces were being beaten back and remembered his promise to Phillus. Realizing that Phillus was in the main forces, he led a charge straight at the main elven nation. Because the fairy creatures were spent on the massive counterattack, the elves took the field and waited for his charge. He and the rest of the calvary engaged the elves. The elves slaughtered all the forces on the calvary, but they could not get close to the man leading them. The elven king engaged the man and the man recognized the king as the person who raised him. He fought the king to a standstill and when the king raised his hand for a final blow, the man shot the king in the chest with an arrow. The elves let out a bloodcurling scream and tried to reach the man in armor. The man then started attacking the elves cutting them down bit by bit. Despite their numbers, they could not flank him or rush up on him.
Phillus realized that the battle was over and knighted the man after the battle. For the next 20 years, the man became more and more famous by conquering each battle after battle that approached his way. People knew him as the Black Knight. He did not call himself that though, he still went by no name. He fought effortlessly and forced countless battles that did not look favorable to him as a victory. People began talking about him and that Phillus got to where he is because of him. Over the 20 years, Phillus had a son and the Black Knight taught him how to use the sword and bow. Phillus Jr became almost as good as his teacher.
Phillus feared an uprising and kept the Black Knight at his side, but also feared the Black Knight for his power. He sought to obtain more power and began researching the black arts. Who knows how he entered the netherworld during this trial, but he managed to do so. What he did not know was that by doing so, he caused the land to be sucked of much of it's magical properties into the netherworld. In the netherworld, he met a female devil, the master of the netherworld. He was intrigued at her and decided that he wanted more power. She was named Hashki, queen of the dead. Hashki had little interest in him, but noticed the massive magic leak from his land and wanted the rest. She agreed to give him more power in exchanged for all the magic in the lands.
He agreed to her deal and it was done. She gave him two swords, one dark and one light. She then drained the magic in the lands til they were dry, however, she could not get all of it cause dusts and particles still remained and are the source of the powders. All the people who could use magic were suddenly powerless. Phillus, angry at being tricked, gave the swords unknowingly to the Black Knight and his son. Both swords left Phillus willingly and through a stroke of luck, allowed its new users to tap into the swords for magical powers. At first, Phillus Jr. was amazed and happy at his newfound abilities. What Phillus once had, Phillus Jr. could preform greater. The Black Knight ignored the new power and didnt care about it at all.
Phillus Jr. soon became dark and moody. He began having ideas that he should lead and not his recently-powerless father. The Black Knight also began having ideas and noticing these changes in Phillus Jr. Both parties also noticed that their aging stopped and they were as young when they were 20. Phillus Jr. used the sword to forge an armor from the lava of a volcano. He placed it on and called himself Lord Diemos. Using his sword, he called forth the undead and launched an attack against his father's army. The army fell easily because the undead could not die and he entered his father's chambers. The Black Knight was away taking care of some business in the south and his father was waiting at his room. His father tried to fight, but Lord Diemos slaughtered him where he stood. A vortex opened up sucking Phillus Sr.'s soul into the netherworld.
Fearing that someone might use the books to enter the netherworld again and possibly stop him, he burnt the castle to the ground leaving nothing but ashes. A few books remained scattered among the lands so he invaded all the surrounding towns and killed anyone who got in his way in his search of the books. He retained some knowledge of what his father taught him and began the invasion of the northern lands. Everyone realized this common threat and pleaded with the Black Knight to become their king and stop Lord Diemos. The Black Knight did want to stop him, but did not want any part of leadership. The fairy creatures or what was left of them did not like the Black Knight, but agreed that he was their best hope in defeating them. The dragons refused to follow the Black Knight since he killed so many of their brethren and without warning, gathered all their forces, which was all their kind, and launched an all out counterattack against Lord Diemos. Lord Diemos allowed the dragons to believe they were winning and when they were all bunched together charging towards him, sent a spell banishing them from the face of the earth.
The Black Knight knew the outcome before the dragons had attack, but realized that there was no way for him to stop them. He discovered that one of the Lords, Johnathon Kass, was honorable and valued his honor above all else. He then appointed him as the next ruler and swore to serve him next. John Kass decided to band what was left of their forces and attack the undead army of Lord Diemos. The Black Knight rode pass their forces and engaged Lord Diemos himself. Lord Diemos and the Black Knight decided to fight to the death in order to claim who was better in combat. They fought for a long time and the Black Knight tripped and fell. As Lord Diemos was about to kill the Black Knight, the Black Knight swung his sword and killed Lord Diemos. Lord Diemos fell, dropping his sword onto the ground which split open sucking the sword down into the lava below it. It sank before settling in the middle, not sinking or rising. The ground then became whole again covering the lava so that the sword can not be reached. Lord Diemos laughed thinking he stopped the Black Knight from getting the sword and slowly died from the wound. As he died, the undead army collapsed to ashes and dust.
The Black Knight stood alone, wondering the danger of the sword he carried. He turned and left to continue his service. However, Johnathon Kass sent men over to him with instinct to kill him too because he felt the Black Knight would betray him. The Black Knight killed them all and in turn, left Kass a scar on his neck after passing him. He warned him never to bother him again and left Kass shaking on the ground. He then walked the earth, living alone and shelter. Over time, he went through 4 wives and watch them die of old age each time. He swore to live alone because he didnt want to deal with the passing of a love one again. He left his sword hidden, but where he left it, no one knows. He didn't care much if someone found it since it would not go to them because the sword would become too heavy for them as long as he remained. However, since he cant kill himself, and he tried but the sword would not cut him when he wielded it, he just wanders from city to city, town to town, and place to place mingling with the common folk dressed as one of them.
He did that for ages, but after centuries, no one knows what he looks like or where he is. He disappeared from public eye and he left his armor where he left his sword. People regard him as a hero since Johnathon Kass made no mention of his actions and never was social. He hated the Kass's and vowed never to fight or serve anyone again. He faded away to legends, but is probably walking around somewhere. He could have finally found peace, but will remain as the person who made that peace possible. The mark that he left John Kass remains in all his ancestors symbolizing his treachery, but no one knows that that is the reason of the mark.
