The Wedding

The Wedding

by Ruth Corcoran

It was a beautiful spring day at Plumfield. The sun was shining and birds were singing like there was no tomorrow. Everyone at Plumfield was excited, especially Jo and Nick. Today was the day of their wedding. Ever since Jo woke up that morning, she could not help but think about how, way back on Christmas Day, Nick had proposed to her and now, six months later, they were get married.

"Jo," Amy said, "you better start getting ready for the wedding. After all, it is in a few hours from now and it wouldn't be right for the bride to show late at her own wedding."

"I know," responded Jo back to Amy. "Do you really think I want to be late for my own wedding? Beside I have plenty of time to get ready for the wedding."

Jo already had on her wedding dress and Meg was already helping her put a white rose in her hair. All of a sudden Ruth came into the room along with Fi (short for Fiona) her twin sister. Ruth and Fi were the daughters of Nick. Nick had been married before, but his wife Anya had died when Ruth and Fi were 10 years old. Ever since their father had started working at Plumfield, the girls had been living with their grandfather in Boston up until last fall when they started to attened school at Plumfield. Both of girls had loved the school ever since the first day they arrived. They also had loved Jo ever since the day they met her. She reminded the alot of their own mother before she had gotten sick and died.

Due to this fact, they were both excited about the fact Jo was going to become their new mother. Jo was very excited about becoming their new mother as well. The girl reminded her so much of herself when she was the age.

"Are you nervous?

"Yes Indeed," Jo told them.

"You're not the only own who is nervous. Our father is nervous as well," Ruth responded.

"Well, we better start getting ready to go," Amy said.

A few minutes later they were on their way to town. Jo was wondering what Nick was thinking right at the moment. Jo was also wondering why she felt so sick to her stomach at that moment. She had never felt like this when she and Fritz had been married.

Then, along with Meg and Amy, she enter the church. A few moments later, the wedding start. Jo got ready to walk up the aisle when all of a sudden the minister grab his chest and collapsed on the floor like a sack of potatoes. Nan rushed up to see if he was okay and so did Dr. Pierce.

"He has no pulse," Nan said as Dr. Pierce came up beside her to examine the body himself.

"Looks like he suffered a severe heart attack," Dr. Pierce told ever one.

"Look like we will have to postpone the wedding till we can find a new minister, replied Nick to every one at the wedding.

One week later Jo and Nick were finally married . This time nothing went wrong and every one at the wedding said it was the best wedding they had ever been to. The day after the wedding, they left for Europe to spend a month on their honeymoon. The trip was a present from Nick's former father-in-law who Nick was like a son to even after his daughter's death.

So in the end every one lived happily ever after.
