Mrs. S. Alta Showers of Locke died early Monday after a long illness. A native of Sempronius, Mrs. Showers was a graduate of Moravia High School and attended Cortland Normal School after which she taught school until her marriage to Rev. John E. Showers of the Central and Northern New York Methodist conferences.Surviving are a sister, Miss Agnes Pearsall of Locke; three brothers, Charles L. Pearsall of Locke, Ira of Ithaca, and Ralph B. of Groton ; a niece, Miss Ruth Pearsall of Groton and a nephew, Robert Pearsall of Ithaca.
Mrs. Showers was a member of Locke Methodist Church and of the W.S.C.S.
Funeral was conducted Wednesday afternoon at the home, Rev. Orlo D. Stewart officiated and the body was placed in the vault in Indian Mound, with a burial later in Ira Hill Cemetery, Lysander.

Born in Sempronius, Mrs. Showers spent her early life in the vicinity, graduating from Moravia High School. She attended Cortland Normal School, after which she taught school until the time of her marriage to Rev. John E. Showers of the Central and Northern New York Methodist Conferences.
Surviving are a sister, Miss Agnes Pearsall of Locke; three brothers, Charles L. Pearsall of Locke, Ira of Ithaca, and Ralph B. of Groton ; a niece, Miss Ruth Pearsall of Groton and a nephew, Robert Pearsall of Ithaca.
She was a member of Locke Methodist Church and the W.S.C.S. Her life was devoted to Christian work. Until illness prevented, she took an active part in missionary work and the spiritual life work of the W.S.C.S. For years she taught an adult class in the church school.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the home. The Rev. Orlo D. Stewart, former pastor of Locke Methodist Church, officiated. Bearers were Frank Crysler, Erwin Weeks, George Hotchkiss, Jefferson Hewitt, Francis Benedict and John Demmon.
The body was placed in the Indian Mound vault at Moravia to await burial later in the family plot at Ira Hill Cemetery, Lysander.
