Anja's Birth Story
The short(er) version:
Anja was born at 2.44 on Wednesday morning after a long and sometimes frustrating labor!  She's a big girl :)
We went to the hospital on Monday night, and they started me on hormones to help get my body ready for inducing labor.  I didn't really sleep at all Monday night... Tuesday morning at about 8:30 they broke my water and started me on pitocin to induce contractions.  They turned the pitocin up, and it was very intense.  I did eventually ask for, and get, and epidural, which made me pretty numb from the waist down, and I actually managed to get a little sleep.  John and Annette, my doula, were there the whole time helping me out and generally being wonderful :)
At about 11 pm, they decided I could start pushing as soon as the dr. was out of surgery....
...which turned out to be around 11:45.  I pushed for about 3 hours, because she was so big and got a little bit stuck... John and Annette helped me stay motivated and work hard... it was intense.  John was especially wonderful :)  Anja was finally born at 2:44!  We're both healthy and doing fine, just tired!
We stayed at the hospital until Friday at noontime, and are now all home and resting, learning, and getting to know each other...
