Portfolios
A portfolio window is a "label" that explains what each artifact (piece of writing) is. One way to understand windows better is to imagine that someone you've never met will be scoring your portfolio. They have no idea who you are, no idea what the assignments are and no idea about your class. The window needs to fill in these gaps.

Title: Lord of the Flies essay

Date created first quarter 2000-2001 school year

Genre & Label essay; interaction with literature

Process skills used:
      __prewriting

x drafting
      __sharing/responding

x revising(second & multiple drafts)
      __editing

x publishing (formatting & typing)

I chose this essay for my interaction with literature because it really shows I comprehended the text well. I answered the essay question well enough to get a good grade and I used examples from the story; both of these things show I know the text. I did two drafts of it-- the second one I typed-- and I'm proud of my effort. If I could rewrite it I would share it with someone to correct punctuation mistakes-- those are my weakness!

Dear Reader,

    My name is
_Stuart____ and this is a portfolio of my English work for the 2000-2001 school year. In this portfolio you will see [many of my skills in English...]. My areas of weakness/ things I need to work on include _mechanics and grammar. This is evident in my grammar worksheets in the improvement section.. My strengths are poetry and revising  which are evident in my fully processed piece and my best writingMy favorite item in this portfolio is my poem titled "Summer Smiley" because I worked on it for a long time, did many drafts, and it came out beautifully-- and it really shows how good I am at poetry! I am very proud of my work this year!

Thanks for reading!
