| The Lettermen is a very famous successful U.S. vocal group, it was at the original member of Tony Butala, Jim Pike and Bob Engemann in 1960. A debut hit by "The Way You Look Tonight" (the 13th chart of Billboard), in succession "When I Fall In Love" (the 7th chart of Billboard), "Come Back Silly Girl" (the 17th chart), "A Summer Place" (the 16th chart) hits were taken out. In 1967, "Goin' Out Of My Head/Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" (the 7th grade), from next year "Hurt So Bad" (the 12th chart), "Put Your Head On My Shoulder", "Shangri-la", "Love" etc. and other hits are: "How is Julie?", "Turn Around, Look At Me", "Silly Boy (She Doesn't Love You)", "Smile", "Where Or When", "Sweet September", "Secretly", "I Only Have Eyes For You", "Cherish", "Chanson D'Amour", "Our Winter Love", "Sherry Don't Go", "I Have Dreamed", "Hey Girl", "Hang On Sloopy", "Traces/Memories", "She Cried", "Everything Is Good About You" and many more. Their hits were taken out like an every year till 1970. Most of all their hits are a revival hit with the peculiar to a chorus, only "Love" is the solo of Jim Pike and the medley sung combining music is also made elated, they made nine gold albums and an achievement of five Grammy Award nominations and became the very first rank. Furthermore, no less than 31 sheets were sent in inside the top 100th place of album hit charts. There was a performance also as a guest of a Miss Universe world convention. If their albums are seen, Capitol Records of those days sold and the name of conductors, arrangement persons and producers are on the member list: Jimmie Haskell, Al de Lory, Perry Botokin Jr, Steve Douglas, Kelly Gordon, Mort Garson, Hank Levin, Wilson Brown, Jimmie Webb, Ed Cobb, Vince Morton, Pat Valentino, etc. In 1967, instead of Bob, Gary Pike as a younger brother of Jim replaced, further instead of Jim in 1973 a younger brother's Donny Pike replaced, then several member changes were carried out and it is turning around U.S. every place including Las Vegas now with the member of Tony Butala, Donovan Scott tea and Mark Preston. It seems that it has participated in singing of a national anthem, such as the major leagues, etc. Their CD has been taken out also from the label of Pat Boone. It seems that Lettermen expressed a sport all-around player's thing and it was formed for the purpose of arranging the music of any genres in harmony. He had visited in Japan from 1972 to 1980 every year and it was acting as also in 1984, 1992 and 1994 years. I remember having visited in Japan by catchphrase called "the messenger of love" by "the letter". Moreover, the box set of a total of 150 music of 6 CD's have put on the market from a part of huge recording of past sale by the Toshiba-EMI family club because of harmony booms of young men in Japan on autumn of 2003 and activity continues to be expected. And now, Jim, Bob, Gary and Ric de Azevedo of 'The King Family' are working into a group of the name of Reunion. Additional remark: Should the fine play which puts and puts voice on voice also just call it the magic of a song ? |
