Mountains
Steep hills are a hard place to fight. It's pretty hard to strafe. Anyway, it's actually more advantageous to be lower than higher when deathmatching on a steep hill. Think about it. The guy up above has to look over a cliff in order to find his target below. Even then, he has to pick the guy out between all the brush and bumps in the ground. The guy on the ground just has to pace back and forth and wait for a head to jut out of the overhang, then unload. There are other reasons, but I'm not going to enumerate them all. The moral is, when you fight in close on a mountain, try to be on even levels or a little lower than the other guy.

Ditches/Valley Basins
These are sanctuaries from snipers. Ditches are great places for SAW players (or anyone, really) to travel along to get where they're going. The most effective thing to do is to hug the side of the ditch closest to a sniper that is firing at you. That way, the land obstructs his shot, and you're scot free. On the other hand, ditches tend to attract high traffic, so always keep your vision focused far ahead of where you're walking to anticipate incoming enemies.
