What is the distance

5K - (3.1 miles)
What if I have never
run before? Should I still come out for the team? Do I have to be fast to run?
ALL ARE WELCOME! That is one of the beauties of cross
country. We are a team and we will work together as a team to help everyone
improve. There is a place for everyone!
How does scoring in
cross country work?
The first five finishers of each cross country team score. Whichever place the runner finishes is the number of points she earns. For example, if she places in 5th then she would earn 5 points. At the end of the meet, the first 5 places of each team are added together and the team with the lowest total wins.
Runner #6 can act as a displacer meaning if she finishes before any of the opposing team’s top five finishers, she would push those finishers back one place. Runner #7 can also do the same thing.
If at the end of the meet the totals of the top 5 of each team is the same, then the victory goes to whichever team’s #6 runner came in first.
Does this mean that
only 7 runners get to run in the race for
No! In the central league meets, all members get to race. In invitationals, typically the top 7 can only run and then there is often a JV race and sometimes even a freshmen race. At the Central League Championships, the top 7 run in the varsity race and everyone else runs in the JV race.
*See Varsity Point System for determining who runs in the Central League Champs and District Champs.
How does scoring work
in the Central League when there are more than one team in the Wednesday races?

race. As a result, there is more than one meet scored within the one race. In
other words, if
How does one earn a
