These are some of my Family's Favorites

Mabel's Pound Cake

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups sugar
2 sticks butter
1/2 cup shortening
6 large eggs
3 1/2 cups plain flour (sifted)
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup milk

Cream sugar, butter and shortening.  Add eggs, one at a time and beat well after each egg.

Add flour, baking powder, vanilla and milk

Mix thoroughly

Bake 1 hour and 20 minutes at 350.
Put cake into cold oven

Linda's Yeast Rolls

Ingredients

1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup oil
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup water

1 pkg. yeast
1/2 cup warm water

1 egg (beaten)

3 cups plain flour

Heat sugar, oil, salt and water on stove until warm.

Add all ingredients to 3 cups plain flour.  Stir (do not knead).  Cover and let rise in a warm place away from any drafts.  Let rise 2 to 3 hours. Pour out dough onto flour - roll out and cut like small biscuits.  Put on cookie sheet, sides touching.  Let rise again about 2 hours.

Bake at 425 degrees until done.

These rolls are very easy to make.  Just remember not to add yeast to water unless it is barely warm.
