ONE WEEKEND in September changed all that! |
| Something was always missing during our training runs. When we weren't breaking up scuffles between dogs we were worrying about them. We did't run one of our males for fear of him causing trouble at the races. As soon as the dogs were lined out our leaders would turn around. We felt forced to run our older leader because we had no dependable backup leaders. When we did try a new dog up front we were dealing with problems. |
| We had wanted to attend Mushing Boot Camp for 2 years. We packed our bags & headed west to Barnstead NH with excitement in our hearts. |
| We arrived knowing that for the next 3 days we would eat, sleep & dream dogs. Ann Stead & Jamie Nelson are knowledgable instructors who laid it all out for us. They showed us how to teach the dogs to do the things we wanted them to do. |
| After 3 days our dogs LINED OUT, PULLED HARDER & PASSED without a glance at other teams. Better yet, we could now run any dog in any position next to any other dog with NO FIGHTING! For the first time we had a REAL TEAM! |
| The instructors taught us how to work with our own dogs & introduced us to some new forms of training! We have taken so much away from this experience, including some new friendships that will last a lifetime! |
