My wife and I had our wedding in the spring of '98. You can follow along the timeline and see how things progressed...
The Bride's Family 04/25/98
May 14, 1998- The wedding went better than anyone could hope. All had a great time, and our friends and family behind the scenes did outstanding work on our day. the wedding talk was excellent and the food and music at the reception topped the night off. We spent a week at a brother's cottage near Huntsville and went to Algonquin Park for a hike. We are adjusting well and very happy together.
April 18, 1998- 1 week of freedom left...Things are coming together better than ever. My suit is being altered, the flowers are almost ready andn everyone who's helping will be ready in time. The future in-laws flew in yesterday to help finish these last few details. We also received unnexpected financial aid from friends and relatives, which lifts a lot of worry about having to cover the last few big bills. Only thing left top do is set up the reception hall after the rehersal Friday. I'm not nervous at all...check with me the day of the wedding and I may have a different story.
April 2, 1998- The big day is only 3 1/2 weeks away. Things are settling down, though we have yet to decide on centerpieces and were surprised to discover that since we are running our own bar, we have to buy additional insurance at the price of $120. Oh well. I'm such a cheapskate.
March 25, 1998- We have all the arrangements made for the food and the reception. It's going to be great. The money goes faster than it comes, but we're working hard to make this a special day for us, our friends and families.
March 15, 1998- The cake has been selected, shoes too. The centerpieces are next...small baskets with flowers I think.
March 1, 1998- the suits have been purchased. We have 3 button navy suits with ties to match the bridesmaid's dress.
Jan.9, 1998- I moved down to the city she lives in to find work and make it easier to take care of the final arrangements.
Dec. 20-29, 1997- We flew out west to meet her parents. It was a real nice visit. They had a huge engagement party set up for us, and I got to meet a lot of her friends and relatives. It was a fun trip.
Dec. 10, 1997- The invitations are ready to put together and will all be personally delivered by the 21st of December. Many plans in the works for upcoming showers.
Dec. 7, 1997- We meet with the elder we asked to give our wedding talk and review material concerning the reception. We approach brothers who accept responsibilities of master of ceremonies and offering prayer at the meal.
Dec. 6, 1997- After my fiance tries on a few dresses, we unwind by going to see 'Flubber'. Funny, but not $8 worth of funny...The next day it's the bridal registry at the Bay...lots of decisions to make as to style and colors of kitchen, bath accessories, etc.
Nov. 29, 1997- A town near Barrie wins the choice for the wedding location. A good friend there has offered to do a lot of the work with us, and it is a centralized location for all who will have to travel. We picked up paper for the self-made invitations.
Nov. 23, 1997- The work begins. After calling parents and friends, we begin to work on the details...where to have it, we're not sure. April seems to be the right time for favorable travel conditions and not having any weddings to attend ourselves. Our selected best man and bridesmaid have agreed to stand with us.
Nov. 22, 1997- It's been 3 1/2 months since we met, and we know we're right for each other. Tonight, to her surprise, I asked the big question, and got an enthusiastic "Yes!". We couldn't be happier.
