[Hallway, onboard the Kalen]
Donal tr'Ragarok just barely rousted himself from his work on the Science
lab in order to attend the staff meeting the acting CO had called. He sat
through the meeting, but tr'Ragarok didn't pay much attention- his mind was
on the redesign of the lab. Something about a tactical wing on the neutral
zone. The only thing that got through to the science officer was the part
about having to report system readiness in 5 minutes. This wouldn't be a
problem, he'd just have to connect the advanced sensor array and other
standard science systems. After being dismissed, he was approached by the
tr'Elq. The two discussed briefly about long range communications, and about
increasing encription of said signals. tr'Ragarok rattled off something to
try, and commented that if it didn't seem to be working to come down to the
lab and he'd try out some new theories. The communications officer went on
his way, leaving tr'Ragarok to head back to the Science Lab.
[Science Lab, Kalen]
Donal opened up a few loose panels and connected some various systems.
tr'Ragarok contacted the bridge, informing them of nominal system readiness
on the part of science, and said that anything advanced would take time to
rehook up. "There," tr'Ragarok said to himself after ending the
communication, "that finishes the formalities of the job. NOW... back to the
lab redesign!" tr'Ragarok interfaced with the systems, to check power
output, replication rates, and to access his schematics for a new and
improved science lab. All systems were proceeding fine, and the science
department was implementing his new features into the lab. That's why
tr'Ragarok liked the science staff onboard the Kalen- he barely ever had to
speak with them, but they were always there when needed and knew what to do.
Just like the good bunch of Graduate students they were. The Vaed'Rehai then
began to double check on his schematics and encountered a problem- the
rebuild of the Kalen will provide less power than expected... science simply
wasn't "vital" to the ship's operation.
