Brushing her hand through his hair, she smiled down at the still, sleeping form in her lap. Softly his eyes fluttered open, causing her smile to grow wider. For a moment he fought the sleep away from his body, then the world came into focus. "Did you sleep?" he asked her. She shooke her head no, and whispered, "I don't want to wake up. If this is a dream I don't ever want to wake up. For the first time in my life I am in love. All my life I have been waiting for you, and here you are." Pulling her head down for a kiss, he promised her that she was not dreaming, and if she was she would never be waking up from it.
Pulling the paper from her friends hands she thanked him through a chocked throat. Her grasp was not tight and she had to grab for it again, her attention not fully on it. The boy beside her took her hands, taking the paper away from her and throwing it aside. Neither really wanted to hear what she had to say, knowing it would be the end. He pulled her into his lap, pulling her close, holding her tight. His head found a spot for his head on her shoulder, and kept her there close to him, falling asleep. She pulled him closer and begin her silent tears. She knew he was slipping away from her. They were pulling apart and there was nothing she could do to stop it. You promised I would never wake up she whispered. |
