Born on October 31, 1952 in Asheville, NC...currently resides in Weston, FL...married...attended East Carolina and Elon College...Quaterback of the Elon College football team, MVP in his senior year...elected to the Elon College Sports Hall of Fame...first became interested in umpiring when his college football coach didn't let him play baseball because it interfered with Spring practice...has hosted a golf classic benefitting the national Center for Missing and Exploited Children...owns West Vest and Joe West Sports Page Bar and Grill...singer/songwriter, Joe has performed with Merle Haggard, Bobby Mackey, Bonnie Owens, Mickey Gilley, Box Car Willie, T.G. Sheppard and Charlie McCoy and the Hee Haw Band at the Grand Ole Opry...
