Luebke Racing Race Report

2006 IMSM Racing Race# 3
This race was sponsered by DynotuneMP
A big thanks to Mike Post at DynotuneMP for sponsoring this event. The SI class attracted 5 racers for this race. Ron with the Neon , dropped out due to mechanical problems and most likely not be back in this class. For this race , I had put the same tune up in the car as race#1, hopefully to get the car back in the 12.60's. Also I had put on my other set of doors which were lighter, hoping to pick up a little bit, running the car on spray was not a option since I'm so close to the index already. I did qualify #1 with a 12.657 @ 106.13 which gave me a bye in the 1st round.
1st round: I ran a 12.75 @ 106.07 which would pair me up with Shane in his red Cobra for round 2.
2nd Round: This race was over before the tree came down , Shane ended up rolling thru the beams before the tree was activated and the win light was on in my lane. I did run a 12.636 @ 106.34.
Final Round: The finals were a rematch from race# 2 , the Luebke Racing Mustang vs. Tony in the maroon notch. This race was decided in the 1st 60ft for me , uncharacteristic for my, it spun the tires and Tony who also had the better light was out in front the whole way down. The race ended up being decided by .003 with Tony letting off at the end . I ran a 12.725 @ 105.70 . So I ended being runner up for the second event in a row.
We are leading the points by 60 , Jason is in 2nd place, and Tony is in 3rd. The next race will held on July 16,2006 at Byron Dragway , this event will be sponsered by Legend Racing. The SI class looks like it will be a dog fight , Jason posted a 12.57 in testing and also Joe in the Buick ran a 12.40 something in testing, I will be looking to find a little more by then also,
Hope to see you there ..

rief synopsis on how my second race went :
Round 1 :My race was against Ron in his srt4 neon.
I ran a 12.777 to his 13.23 for the win.
Jason (83gt) raced the (Joe) in the Buick GN, Jason was having trouble and the
Joe got the win
the 3rd pairing was the (Tony) Maroon Notch Mustang against the a Silver Charger,
Tony got the win in that round.
Round 2:
I got the bye for this round ,I ran it out the back door on a small, small NOS shot , the car ran a 12.119 @ 110.29 ... way to fast ...
(Tony) in the maroon stang ran the Buick and the Tony got the win.
Final Round:
It was the Luebke Racing 84gt vs the (Tony) Maroon Notch.
The battle at the tree was pretty even, I had a 335 light to his 308.
Tony had a little problem early , but took the win when I ran under the index by .033 and broke out. I shut off the spray at half track and missed 2nd gear,
that's bad when its a automatic and ended running a 12.467 @ 104.78 to his 13.342 @ 107.13.
So all in all it was' nt to bad , a runner up at this race, I gained points on the second and 3rd place cars .. next event is June 4th.
2006 Imsm Racing Series Race#1
April 9,2006 was the 1st race for the IMSM Racing Series held at Byron Drag way in Byron, Illinois. The Series has expanded to 8 different classes this year. It has every thing Pro Eliminator, which is big tire, big motor, 8 second cars to the Street Fighter Bracket class which fits the every day driver car. I decided to run the Street Intimidator class which is 12.50 index class with a .400 Pro Tree start. I have never run in a class that had a Pro Tree , so this year will be a learning experience as far that goes. During the off season , I had focused on getting some new body panels on the car to make the appearance a little better, so far that has' nt happened. I was basically going to run the same combo as last year. Upon getting the car out of storage, i had discovered a bad wheel bearing and one the holley blue pumps was bad. I spent approx 8 hours in full thrash mode the day before the race to get ready. So Kyle and I loaded up and headed to the track with out knowing if the car was right. I still had fuel pressure problems at 9pm the night before. We unloaded at the track and made out 1st test hit in a T&T session. The car spun the tires out of the hole, but it felt good, she ran a 12.78 right out the box with no tuning and a cold track. My previous best run on motor had been a 12.70, for 1st round qualifying , I lowered air pressure on the BFG Goodrich drag radials. The car seemed to have a slight bog off the line, but she ran a 12.625 @ 105.65 mph. That placed us as #1 qualifier after the 1st round of qualifying. Deciding to leave everything alone except for tire pressure, round #2 of Qualifying netted a 12.6969 @ 105.16. That gave us the bye for 1st round, which was nice , another test pass for me. The other 1st round pairing was Jason Hampton in a 83GT against Ron in a SRT Neon, the race was decided by .013 with the Neon getting the win. The final was the Luebke Racing Black 84GT "Vader" vs. the Black Neon . We were able to drive by the Noen with a 12.617 @ 105.86mph for the win. We were able to keep out winning streak alive from last year. It was very good time, the pro tree is awesome, i can see why once you race in a heads up style race, you don't want to back to bracket racing. The nest IMSM event is on May 7, 2006 at Byron .
