You are at: Home > News and Analysis > GeoCities is closing Notice about Yahoo's decision to close GeoCities: You may have heard from media reports about Yahoo's recent decision to close GeoCities, which, as it happens, is the Web host of this site. For the benefit of those who may be interested, here is how Yahoo explains its decision, and a news report on the matter. As the owner of this startup Web site, we are now in the process of reviewing our options regarding our future Web host. In the coming weeks, we will make an announcement about it. It is our goal that the transition be as smooth and seamless as possible, but - being non-techies - we can only promise our best effort. We take this opportunity to thank all of you who visit our site regularly. Your visits have apparently made some of our competi- tors covet our site, since it is able to draw a prized audience of opinion leaders like you. We therefore caution all of you that some party(ies) may try to take advantage of any confusion which could arise with the coming transition to another Web host. To ensure that you are not the victim of a 'phishing' or 'hijacking' scam, whether at your end (ie, by being misdirected to another site), and/or at our end (ie, by the 'hijacking' of our site, or cyber- space's version of land grabbing by means of the high-tech steal- ing of passwords), kindly check that at the bottom of the Web page, there is a copyright notice with the name of the Site Owner: "Copyright (c) 2001-2009 Leonardo L. Sta. Romana". Better to be safe than sorry and duped. Leonardo L. Sta.
