Creating your Home Page (AKA index.html)
1. First to create a yahoo account coplete with user name and password.
2. Go to text, "www.geocities.com"
3. Click on text that states "GeoCities Free".
4. Answer the three questions.
5. Your web site name will appear, click on "Build your web site now".
6. Click "Create and Update tab".
7. Click "Yahoo Page Builder".
8. You need to select your index page template by clicking on a template page below.
9. Click on "Launch Page Builder".
10. Save this page as "index.html" erasing the back slash.
11. You can now make changes to this page as you wish.
Page Updating and Creating Additional Pages
1. Sign on to www.geocities.com, sign in, name, password. Upper and lower case sensitive.
2. If you have pictures, go to manage and then to easy upload. The name of a picture must not have any spaces. If you are already on a page you can upload pictures by going to basic then to upload pictures, my laptop has to upload the manage way. Since this is a free site the amount of information is limited. I try to take my pictures to 75 resolution and about 5x7 in size.
3. When you have the pictures loaded for upgrade, click on "create and update", on "yahoo:pagebuilder" and finally on "launch pagebuilder
4. One of your pages will appear, if you desire a different page go to file and double click on that page.
5. You can not go to insert, basic and upload or to insert, basic picture.
6. A picture or text box can be deleated by highliting it then striking backspace. They can be moved by keeping the mouse pressed on the edge, made smaller or larger by moving the arrow on the corner, and you can adjust the shape by pressing the mouse in the middle.
7. The adjustments on the tool bar will accomplish many different enhancements to your page.
8. To add a page go to file and click on new page. Formate it to the desired size and you are ready to add materials.
9. In saving a page deleate the / and type in the exact name you want, case sensitiv
10. In order to access your pages from the index page, open it, text, type in the name you wish to appear, highlite that that name, click link on the tool bar and type in www.geocities/yoursitename/pagename (remember case sensitive)
11. When you want or need to remove the pictures from your website go to Manage, File Manager, check selected pictures then delete.
