Welcome to Anchor Nursery School a
traditional nursery school for 3 and 4 year olds
Anchor
Nursery School has been serving the community of Selden for
over 35 years. We provide traditional nursery school
for 3 and 4 years throughout the school year. There are morning sessions of 3 hours and afternoon sessions of 2 1/2 hours.
We believe children learn through play and our other daily
activities. The classroom is set up in learning centers. We provide
experiences for children to learn socialization skills and develop a
positive self esteem.

�Daily Activities
Include
Circle
Time / Songs
We have 2 circle times daily where we read stories, sing
songs, do finger plays, and learn about letters and numbers
Free Play
The children spend approximately 45 minutes in free play
activities. This time is for learning to share, work cooperatively,
learn to communicate with each other appropriately and many other
social skills.
Arts and Crafts
The children participate in a planned craft project or baking
project daily as part of the Free Play time. There are also
opportunities for children to use crayons, markers and other craft
items to create projects when desired.
Snack
The school provides a
healthy snack daily for each child.
Outdoor play
Weather permitting the children play on our large outdoor
playground.
Music
Twice a month the children are taught music by a music teacher in the classroom. They learn about instruments, rythmn, pitch and singing.
