1974

In desperation, Dorian pled her case to Viki.

While still mourning Merediths death, Larry buried himself in his work. He grew to love one of his patients, Rachel Wilson, who was critically ill with Hodgkins disease. With not much time left, Rachel confided to nurse Susan Berry that she wanted to die and hoped that Larry would help her end her life.

While on duty at the hospital one evening, as Dorian administered Rachel her medication, Mark motioned for her to come away with him to one of the hospital closets for a quick twist. In a haste to accept Marks come-on, Dorian neglected to initial Rachels chart verifying the dosage. Later, Mark gave Rachel a second dosageunaware that Dorian had already done it. As a result of the accidental overdose, Rachel died. Panicked, Mark and Dorian scrambled to try to cover up their negligence.

With all evidence pointing towards Larry, he was arrested for committing a mercy-killing, and was put on trial for murder. Riddled with guilt, Dorian threatened to expose their being responsible for Rachels death. In a panic, Mark bolted. As Dorian chased after him, she took a terrible fall down the stairs. As Dorian lay in a coma, Mark skipped town. Upon emerging from the coma, a wheelchair-bound Dorian delivered the courtroom testimony which set Larry Wolek free. Dorian was fined and suspended from Llanview Hospital, while the board of directors decided what her ultimate fate would be.

Desperate to save the medical career that she loved so much, the day before the board was to meet, Dorian met with prominent board member Viki Lord Riley to plead her case. Dorians apologetic recant touched Viki so much so that when the board met, she was the only one to vote in favor of retaining Dorian on staff. After the decision was made, chief of staff Dr. Jim Craig delivered the solemn news to Dorian that the board had voted to relieve her of her duties.

A devastated Dorian fought to hold on to her dignity as she took the crushing news. Her request to know how the vote went was refused by Dr. Craig, who was clearly sympathetic, but insisted that the vote had to remain confidential. Dorian mistakenly took this to mean the vote was unanimousan especially stinging thought as it would mean her private plea to Viki fell upon deaf ears. Hurt and filled with rage, Dorian vowed to get even with every last one who voted against herespecially Viki!
