Little Mary
Little Mary runs through green
woods, squinting at rays of sun
shining through the trees, making her feel
warm inside, and so sweet.
She peels off a tree's bark
throws it in the ponds water

She stares at the water,
noticing the floating leaves of green
and the reflections of the many shades of bark.
The pond shines brightly in the sun.
Her attention drifts to the sweet
berries which she leans down to feel

and she easily feels
the droplets of water
on each berry which will cause their sweet
flavor.  She starts to pick one but sees green
on the familiar coat of her mother's son
coming towards her, with a dog's bark

Behind him, shaking the loose tree bark.
She reaches over to feel
and touches a ray of sun.
Distracted again she turns to the water
She counts the floating leaves of green
"One, two, three, five..."  Oh, so sweet.

It's known to all that she's sweet.
When she tells her doggy to bark
or tries on her big brother's green
coat, she can make any person feel
like they're floating out on the water
warming in the rays of sun

But back to Mary in the sun.
She didn't taste those berries so sweet,
but she did jump right in that water
to fetch back her piece of bark.
She could very quickly feel
the chill of the pond layered with green.

Covered with green, she looks not quite so sweet.
But the sun quickly dries her and she holds up her bark.
She just wanted to feel all the woods, even the water.
