Excuses I wish that you could understand, my dear That I did not plan on forgetting this. I'm busy with so much new stuff at work; You know that I've had projects off the wall. I'm rarely home by eight 'o' clock each night How could I have stopped to get you a gift? Planning a reservation out to eat Might not have worked if I'd come home too late It's just one day out of a whole long year You can't expect me to remember that. If we celebrate on a different day It wouldn't be so horrible, would it? We'll go out tomorrow; no one will know That today truly was ten years for us.

Don't Give Me That I can and will expect you to recall. It's just one day a year that I ask for. You say you deal with those projects at work Now you get to deal with your crabby wife. All these excuses make me more upset; I just cannot believe them all at once. Ten years ago you stood and made a vow To love me every day for all your life. You said you'd show it every way you could But I am not seeing that love this day. You say that we'll go out tomorrow night I say go out to eat all on your own. Unless you plan to say those simple words: "I'm sorry," and admit you just forgot.

Mans Sonnet Weve been together for ten wondrous years; Sometimes I wonder how its gone so fast. Each day I wake up next to you and think Of all that God has blessed me with in you. You give me something to look forward to: Your smile, your laugh, and every word you say, The touch of your sweet skin up against mine- Im in awe of these things each day with you. In you Ive been given all Ive dreamed of. When your dark gray eyes look into my own I always wonder how I deserved you And all that you have brought into my life. I cant wait to spend my eternity With you in my arms everywhere we go.

Womans Response I cant believe that you love me enough To spend your precious time writing of me. You say you think that you dont deserve me I must admit I have those feelings too. You pray for me and treat me with such care And never stop to think you dont have to. I cant wait to be in your arms once more One day without you seems too long to bear To have your light brown eyes looking at me As if Im all that matters in your world It makes my heartbeat rise and I can feel The tingles in my body at your touch. I plan to spend my every breath with you Ill be in your arms everywhere we go.

| If I remember correctly, these two sonnets were based on two of Shakespeares sonnets. We were supposed to turn them into modern words I believe. If that's not the case, it was something similar, because I didn't make this up on my own. It's not my style. And I don't like sonnets much. | ||||||||||||||||||||
Please do not cry for me once I have died Except for when you first receive the call And you find out that I do not reside In this cruel world that only lets us fall. So while reading this, do not think of me Or what Ive done; for, Love, I wish you bliss And that you will go on drinking your tea Not letting me be what your heart will miss. Now if one day you come across these words I beg you do not even think my name When the day comes when my voice is not heard Please, Love, forget me and all Ive proclaimed. I fear that some would see you in your pain And use your thoughts of me for their own gain.

I could say that youre like the summertime. But obviously youre better than that. A summers start is cold, not always kind And three months long is never quite enough. Some days the sun can beat down oh-so-hot. But it will always leave us for some time As so much beauty of the world will hide Sometimes by choice but many times by force. But you my dear, your sunshine never leaves And you will never lose your graceful charm I know that you will never heed deaths call As your beauty will always be known right here For all the life of men this poem will be And your loveliness will live forever here.
