It's all about the worm.........
Yes, several fine specimans were working those plants and tearing it up quite well.  soooo . . . Like a fine tequila, this butterfly gardening is all about the worm!!

I had not seen that many monarchs in the garden yet this year, but some mother insect had left the eggs that hatched in to these beautiful worms!
I guess these could have been eggs laid last year???
