Vincent Van Gogh was probably one of the most misunderstood persons of his time. He suffered from seizures and later was diagnosed as mentally ill. Just as his paintings did not sell until after his death, nor did the diagnosis of his illness. He was not only talented in painting but also in writing. This is quite evident in reading his letters to his beloved brother, Theo. These letters can be located online through the link above. I hope you enjoy reading them and learn to understand and appreciate this man not only as a painter and writer but as the lovely person that he truly was.
Ms. Rose

Mr. VanGogh also fell to the social misgivings of his time. A liquor called absinthe was advertised to give painters a more indepth look at their work. Vincent practiced drinking this daily. This liquor contained a deadly ingredient known as wormwood, which, unbenounced to them, led to seizures and finally madness/insanity.

I can't help but wonder how long this man would have lived and how great he would have become, if he had not fallen into the deadly trap of his day, drug abuse... What a waist of talent..
