How to Burn Big Money on a Car You Eventually Sell Under Blue Book

In 1996, I foolishly embarked on a very expensive and unnecessary project. Just to be cool, I replaced the 1.9l 4-cylinder engine in a 318ti with a 3.0l 6-cylinder M3 engine. And with the few dollars I had left, I turbocharged it. That was fun. Never again!

Testing at the "SoCal Nurburgring"

More testing...so far so good.

About to race a Camaro...with two passengers...and win...he he he!

High speed testing

It ended up costing me so much more than it was worth, that when I think about it now, I get very depressed. And to the folks who edit EuropeanCar, my name ain't Larry!

Now when anyone talks about modifying their car to any extreme, I joke they simply burn the money. At least there are no labor charges. It was fun at the time, but my priorities have changed in a big way since then. I SO wish I had put that money into a nice little investment portfolio. I could actually retire several years earlier! Oh well, at least it's out of my system.
