Course
Description:

AP
European History is a yearlong course meant for tenth grade students. It is taught on the college freshman level
and is designed so that the students will be able to pass the AP Exam in
May. The course covers the history of
Europe from the Renaissance to the Present.
Students are required to do a considerable amount of reading both from
the text and supplemental materials.
Essay writing and historiography are of equal importance to answering
difficult multiple-choice questions on the three-hour exam that will culminate
the year.
Prerequisites:

Students
should have achieved a score at the 80th percentile in reading
comprehension on the last statewide test.
The text is written on the college level and students will be required
to read 25-30 pages weekly and demonstrate understanding of facts and concepts
and make links to other events, trends and periods in the historical scope of
the course.

Students
must be highly self-motivated.
·
Students
must be committed to completing all work without plagiarizing and cheating.

Notebook
with lined paper.
·
Blue
and Black ink pens
·
Pencils
Class
Rules:
·
Students
are expected to demonstrate a high degree of respect for one another and the
divergence of ideas and opinions that may be discussed in class.
·
Students
will come to class prepared.
·
Cheating
and plagiarizing will not be tolerated.
·
Late
work is not accepted.
·
Students
can complete on line practice tests online for extra credit only if all
regularly assigned work is completed.
·

will be calculated by the following formula: 60% tests, 40% Homework.
