"YOUTH, DYING OF WOUND, REFUSES TO AID PROBE"

Police today were investigating the fatal shooting of a young man who was found this morning in the rear of 1623 N. Wood St. When taken to County Hospital, he refused to make a statement but gave his name as Harry Brown and his address as 1029 N. Lincoln St. He died shortly after. Policeman Henry Weeghman was walking his beat when he heard two shots fired. He went into the alley and found the victim lying on the ground. A revolver was in his pocket.

YOUTH STABBED TO DEATH; HUNT GANGLAND CLEWS

West Chicago avenue police early this morning were investigating the murder of a young man, presumably a gangster who was found fatally stabbed in the rear of 1628 North Wood Street. He had been stabbed in the forehead and body several times and at the County hospital gave his name as Harry Brown and his address as 1029 North Lincoln Street. He died thirty minutes after the police arrived at the hospital with him.

"Let me alone-- I'm a good fellow--give me a break" was all he would say.

Policeman Henry Weaghman, walking his post along North Leavitt Street, heard two shots fired, he reported. They came from the direction of the alley, and when he went around he found the victim lying on the ground. In the victim's pocket was a .32 caliber automatic pistol.
