John's World
Welcome to my page.  Mostly you will find links to stuff I find interesting.  Occassionally I will post some random thoughts and will leave the detailed accounts of family happenings to Laura Joy.
Current Ramblings: You may or may not agree with the policies of the current administration.  However, the silent majority of Americans who fail to vote is truly a shame.  Get registered - get informed - get involved!  One of the basic liberties we take for granted is still so lacking and desired across the world.  Check out the Federal Voting Assistance Program website at http://www.fvap.gov for information on state primaries and how to register for absentee ballots.

o  The Lexus and the Olive Tree: Understanding Globalization by Thomas L. Friedman
ISBN: 0385499345

The Lexus and the Olive Tree made me think about the interconnectedness of the new global economy and how many governments and peoples are just coming to grips with the rules.  They can either abide by the economic realities of globalization or choose to ignore them- to their disadvantage.  The Lexus reference is to globalization and the Olive Tree our sense of home and place in the world.  Many conflicts and tensions in the world today occur when people struggle to find balance between these competing perspectives.

More to come as I need to review books to add to the list.
