WEAVING

From Sheep to "Rug" ~ The World of Weaving
After a reading of Nannabah's Friend, we wanted to learn more about the Navajo people. Weaving is an important part of the Navajo tradition and greatly interested us. Parent Mary Brooks is a wonderful weaver and was kind enough to come to our classroom to share her expertise with us.
After sheep are sheared, their wool must be carded.

Next, the wool must be spun into yarn.

Once the yarn is dyed, you are ready to begin weaving.

We were anxious to try our own hands at weaving.

Look what we can do!
THANK YOU SO MUCH, MS. BROOKS!

Special thanks also to
Mary and parent Sharon Stafford for creating our looms.
