Hello everyone, |
|
Hello from Clay Lamberton Elementary! We are a second grade class from Clay Lamberton Elementary School in Berlin, Wisconsin, U.S.A. Our class has twenty-one students, two hamsters, and seven fish. Our teacher is Mrs. Coats, and our student teacher is Ms. Pelz. There are over six hundred students in our K-5 building. About six thousand people live in Berlin. Our city is surrounded by many farms. It is located near several lakes, and we often spend our time swimming and fishing in the summer or ice fishing in the winter. The Fox River runs right through our city and is used for industry and recreation. Our class voted pizza as our favorite food. A close second was ice cream, which suits us since we are known as the Dairy State. At recess our favorite game to play is tag, especially color tag. Our favorite inside recess game is Seven Up. Lemonade Stand is our favorite computer game. We have two computer labs in our school and a computer in our classroom. We are currently working on Project Groundhog, in which we track the weather for six weeks after Groundhog's Day to see if a groundhog is a true weather forecaster. We also have Australian e-mail pals, and we are participating in the Flat Stanley Project. We are excited about the Electronic Postcard Project and are looking forward to hearing from classes all over the world. Don't forget to visit our class web sites at: www.myschoolonline.com/wi/mrs_coats and www.myschoolonline.com/wi/ms_pelz. It's a huge district, still growing, in the suburbs of Pittsburgh,PA Pittsburgh is situated among 3 Rivers. This allows for great scenes and boating. Our stadiums are situated along the rivers. Pittsburgh has several universities and wonderful medical facilities. For our students the drive to Pittsburgh ranges anywhere from 20-60 minutes. (Our district is huge.) Where Hosack students live is a beautiful area which borders a huge county park. So many of the homes are nestled in park like settings. Many of the students have their own pools in their backyard... However, there are busy roads leading into "town" as we say here in the "burgh"...so lots of shopping, eating, and entertainment areas. It's not unusual, tho, for us to look out of our school windows and see deer, rabbits, squirrels, turkeys, and many types of birds. The kids here enjoy many of the things most kids enjoy...they love their video games and being on the computer. Most are involved in some type of sport...soccer, baseball, basketball, swimming, gymnastics, Tai-Kwondo, cheerleading. Many play some sort of instrument. Weekends are full of activities like sleepovers, or right now, going skiing at the slopes about an hour and a half east of Pittsburgh. We really have the best of both worlds here...so close to the city, yet the ability to head to the mountains in no time. From Ms. Donahue and Shadow Allison Park, PA |

Our Community Lincoln School has five grades from pre-school to grade three. We have one pre school class, 3 first grades, 3 second grades, and 3 third grades. There are 250 children in our school and 11 girls and 9 boys in our class. Our school was built in 1914. Most of the boys and girls are driven to school by their parents. We don't have any one riding a school bus. Rockaway is about 50 miles west of New York City. Most of the class lives in houses. Some of the important buildings in Rockaway are the firehouse built in 1911, the library built in the early 1800's, and the Stephen Jackson. Mr. Jackson was a bodyguard for General George Washington. George Washington stopped here for refreshments in 1780. We have 1 small lake in our town. Newark Airport is about a 40-minute drive from Rockaway. There is a hospital in the next town. The landscape is somewhat hilly. There used to be a lot of trees but many have been cut down to build houses. There are many restaurants on the major highway that goes through Rockaway. Rockaway has squirrels, deer, groundhogs ( and Digger, too), raccoons, foxes, garden snakes, porcupines, skunks, chipmunks, bears, bats, and many different kinds of birds. Most of the children in Rockaway like living here. From Ms. Rathmann and Digger |
