| Hey there boys and girls, it has been a long summer and the CGHS cheerleaders have accomplished so much. Since the last "NEWS" posting all three squads have been quite busy: -July 21st through the 25th the Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshmen squads attended the Universal Cheerleaders Association Camp at UC Davis. On the very first night each Casa team was awarded a UCA Spirit Stick and the BIG BALLAH award for overall superior spirit displayed by all three teams, GO CASA! Off to a great start the girls head into the next three days with excitement and anticipation. By the last day the girls were all sore and exhausted but gave a great last effort for the final days' evaluation. In the end the CGHS cheerleaders came home highly decorated; >Varsity, 1st place Home Routine, Camp Champs for Camp Cheer, Overall Superior, too many Superior ribbons too count and all four girls that tried out for UCA All-Stars were chosen >Junior Varisty, Camp Champs for the Xtreme Routine, 2nd place Camp Cheer, Overall Superior, tons of Superior ribbons, four UCA All-Stars and Keely took home 2nd in the Jump-Off >Freshmen, 1st place Home Routine, 2nd place Camp Cheer, Most Improved dozens of Superior ribbons and UCA All-Stars ...Overall, it was a great experience and again the CGHS girls did a great job making their coaches and parents very proud. GO GAUCHOS! Also, the Casa cheerleaders held their first Youth Cheer Clinic August 15th and 16th at CGHS. The CGHS cheerleaders prepared for this camp by learning cheers and dances to teach to each respective team and reviewed stunt techniques to teach during the intense, two day clinic. The Petaluma Panthers left with some great dances, cheers and a better understanding of stunt timing, technique and safety. A big thanks goes out to Audrey and all the wonderful volunteers who worked the snack shack for those two days, we would not have done it without you :) Now school has begun, football games are starting, and competition is right around the corner. Now is the time to get everything in hand, turn in your paperwork and payments on time as to avoid hassles and confusion. CGHS' first scheduled competition is on October 6th at Great America Theme Park in Santa Clara. With so little time left, it is SO IMPORTANT that every girl is at practice on time, in proper gear and ready to work without excuses and complaining. The only way that these teams will be successful is if we all work together and encourage each other to do our personal best not only at practice but also in school and at home. So lets help each other out. That's it for now, if you have any questions or comments... oh or pictures, please send them to me (Lauren Jacobsen) at |
