| The Zonian Palace was built by the first emperor, Emperor Adalric, who had emigrated from Earth with others who were not happy with the corrupt ways of Earth. When Adalric found Zoni after crossing into a different time continuum he set up an empire with small kingdoms that would, theoretically run themselves. Adalric built the Zonian palace with the earthly custom of shape, size, and dimensions. Until the sixth generation of Zonians with Emperor Baldemar the palace stayed a copy of Earth architecture. In the sixth generation; however, the palace was modified to be somewhat unique and different, using more circles and less squares and rectangles. In the eleventh generation Emperor Caddock changed the planet again to fit the new principles and ideals of the Zonians. The final changes that completed the Zonian look was done by Emperor Darshan, and because of him the palace is what it is today. The grounds and palace all have a circular shape, for the Zonians use that as their symbol of eternity; therefore, Zoni and its government will last for eternity. The first noticeable item is a cool stream gurgling around the grounds, turning inward from the four major directions: north, south, east, and west the ending in the center of the palace in a crisp pool. Across a wide, wooden bridge on the northeastern side there is a wild meadow. This meadow was is neat type of wild. No organization was used in the planting or placing of the different plants, but there is still the beauty that exists in hand-tended gardens. The sounds of the meadow are enchanting, and include the flutter of butterfly wings and the buzz of bees. There is a path of stepping stones that leads out of the meadow, and upon walking along the path there is a whisper of melodious sound that emanates from the stone. Each stone had a different sequence of musical harmony. Starting with this part of the journey and going throughout were signs that tell of the history of the grounds from the first emperor to the present empresses, Doreen, Elizabeth, and DellaVleen Dean, and their contributions to the layout. After passing through the meadow, there is a well kept garden of dark red, thornless roses, yellow pansies, and white lilies. After passing through the garden there is a forest. This forest has many different trees from Earth oaks and willows to native Zonian trees. The forest smelt of sticky sweet sap and rotten undergrowth. Upon exiting the forest a person would find themselves looking at a gigantic, four-story, natural black stone building, the palace of course. Grand arches and gold-tipped, silver-spiked domes are atop all of the look out towers. Around the entire length and height of the palace there are niches that had every other niche with a statue of a god or goddess that the people of Zoni had or did worship. Walking into the palace on the first floor, there is a great, wide open space that was the greeting hall. Next door is the enormous kitchen that always smells deliciously of fresh vegetables and fruit, salty beef, smoky steak, and spicy chicken. Continuing along the first floor there is two dining halls, one for informal meals and one for formal, and in the center, the throne room open to the elements of outside, and also the location of the crisp pool. The second floor has one-hundred bathrooms with a different and unique mythological theme in each. The second floor has very many areas for working. For every official in the palace there were two work areas. This whole floor smells of freshly printed ink and freshly cut paper. The third floor is the private living quarters of all the permanent officials and formal guests. This floor has one-hundred bedrooms and just as many bathrooms. Each of these rooms were each designed specifically by the inhabitants and formal guests. The whole floor smells of rich perfumes and strong cologne. The fourth floor is enveloped in glass, and from this vantage point, a person could see clear across the grounds and straight into the sky. |
