| Chapter 4 |
| I had found a place to stay. I lived in an apartment roomed with an Earthling by the name of Kira. I had to make up a bit about myself so that Kira wouldn't figure out about Zoni. The guards left right before the portal closed, so there was no chance to escape. At least yet. |
| The Earthling Kira, interesting girl, so very much like Doreen, yet I didn't mind her. Maybe because of that fact. She was sweet, caring, understanding, and curious. She had dark brown hair, green eyes, and straight pearly white teeth that flashed brightly everytime she smiled. Kira definitely has more patience than I do or will ever have. |
| I had told her that I was from a different country than she and didn't know how things were done here. That caused many questions to be raised. It's surprising how much a person can learn about another in less than a day. At the end of the questioning, Kira somehow had talked me into going to school, something about it being the law. So the following day was my first in Earthly schooling. |

| Chapter 5 |
| Kira and I walked up the large marble steps of the three story Leagh High School. Kira, catching on that I wasn't pleased to be there, tried to cheer me up. |
| "This is going to be so much fun! Now you remember that you have to go to the main office to be admitted into the school, right? And then, while you're doing that, I'll go to the guidance department so that I can change my English class around. |
| I groaned good-naturedly and said, "I still don't understand why I am here." |
| "You are here becuase The United States law states that there will be an education of all persons...blah...blah...blah. So ya.., well here we are, you need to go down that hall." |
| I registered and then was sent to guidance so that they could make up a schedule for me. Kira was just about finished in guidance when I walked in, so she stayed and waited for me so that we could compare schedules. We ended up with the same first class. The secratery paged our professor, Mr. Daimlain, and told him that two new students had arrived. |
| After we had arrived at Mr. Daimlain's classroom, we handed him our schedules and he said,"Kira and Della, names you don�t hear too often.� He stops talking to write some information down. While giving us back our schedules he points us to our seats. �We were just starting a new project. We are getting into groups of two and writing a five page minimum descriptive essay. Because you both are new, Kira, you can work with another group so there will be one group with three people instead of two. They�ll explain everything to you. Della you can work with Mel,� glaring at the girl sitting beside me, �seeing as how she doesn�t have a partner and you�re sitting next to her already.� |
| I wondered about that glare, but decided not to worry about it. This girl Mel, she was different from other Earthlings, she had the scent of a other - worlder. Maybe...nah, I didn't think it possible. |
| Mel gave me this high and mighty appraisal look, and I just returned it with my own unpleasant smirk. She definitely wasn't an Earthling. |
