My Bio
Back

I am a native of Houston, Texas and I have to say that this is one of the greatest cities on earth.  I am 24, divorced, and I have a son, Stephen. He loves Harry Potter, SpiderMan, and all those things that boys love. We've recently moved to a suburb southeast of Houston, closer to the coast, and we're really enjoying our cozy apartment.

I have lots of brothers and sisters, yet I am technically an only child (confused yet?).  My brothers are: Michael, Jonathan, Travis (whom I've never met), Brian, and Jeffrey.  My sisters are Jana and Kelly.

Most of my brothers and sisters are married & have kids.  My nieces and nephews are: Chelsea, Taylor, Meagan, Duncan, Emily, Isabella, Hailee, Heather, Connor, and, Grace Elizabeth.

As a child, I attended Long Point Baptist School (a small private school) through kindergarten, then went on to Pine Shadows Elementary, Spring Woods Middle, and Spring Woods High School, all in the Spring Branch ISD.  In sixth grade I met one of my best friends, Claire.  We became instant friends when we realized we had absolutely everything in common (it is almost eerie how similar we are ... we always seem to know what the other is thinking, you know?).

I studied for 4 years at Houston Baptist University, and despite being only a few courses away from a BA in Early Childhood Education, I had to take a break in order to get the rest of my life in order. At HBU I met another of my best friends, Jaime, who is now teaching first grade in Lamar Consolidated ISD. Unfortunately we had a bit of a falling out last year, but I hope one day we'll be able to make amends. I was originally

studying Early Childhood through Fourth Grade Education, with an academic specialization in Reading; I haven't decided if I'm going to pursue that when I return or not.  At the moment I'm looking into getting a business degree focussed on accounting (see below).  One day, I hope to earn my Master's in English somewhere in Houston (HBU doesn't offer that particular Master's degree, unfortunately)  in order to support my dream of one day being a published author.  As to if, & in what, I will attempt a doctorate, only time will tell!

My senior year at HBU I was President of the Association of Student Educators (a local university unit of the
Association of Texas Professional Educators).  I had been on the Dean's List every quarter since the beginning of my college career, until "real life" caused me to take aforementioned break from school.  I'm a member of Alpha Chi, a national college honor scholarship society.  I worked on campus for Dr. Eloise Hughes, the director of field experience and student teaching, from the end of my freshman year, through the middle of my fourth year.

After working a number of retail jobs (Victoria's Secret, Target, Motherhood Maternity), as well as a few other odd jobs,  I am finally working full-time handling the accounts for my brother's company, Imagestics.

In my free time I enjoy reading and writing most of all.  I used to have a group of friends online that I wrote and mused with:
Pamela (my other best friend), Star (aka Meggie), and Naomi.  Not long after I lost Jaime, things went wrong with Pamela.  I am happy to report that we've mended bridges and are back to being friends again.  If it wasn't for her, I honestly don't know how, or even if, I would have survived 2003.  Love ya, Mella!!!!

I'm a member of Second Baptist Church & attend the Exceed bible study class there.  My ladies' small group is currently studying Woman of God by Cindy Bunch. Previously we've done Really Bad Girls of the Bible, Living Beyond Yourself, The Mind of Christ, The Purpose-Driven Life, and a few others.  I've also done When Godly People Do Ungodly Things and am also currently doing The Study of the Book of Daniel (both Beth Moore Studies). My church and the wonderful friends I've made there are another thing that has made an incredible impact on my life.

I like watching all genres of movies, and listening to all types of music.  I do have an affinity towards sci-fi flicks & British movies and both country & alternative music (strange combo, I know, but I'm a unique girl!)

Hmm ... can't think of what else to say right now ... in fact I'm amazed you made it all the way through my bio.

If you have any questions, just
email me and I'll see about posting that info here.
