"Little town of Wokingham; we all live there, think it's fun..."
They were the opening lines to one of our school songs. I grew up in Wokingham, Berkshire and I still love the place. It's suburby (which I like), with good train and road links to Reading, Bracknell (if you really fancy it :-P) and London. Not to be confused with Woking, Surrey - a very different place.
For those of you who may know Wokingham, some of the places I know very well include the good old B3349 (Barkham Road) which leads all the way up to Arborfield, the town centre (which badly needs pedestrianising although it's still nice), Riverside Walk (round the back of Safeway), Woosehill (avoiding the pikeys!), and good old Reading Road. |
